Is there a siding at Southold, or is that a team track visible in the more recent picture of the signal?
Searching for the eagles of the XVII,XVIII & XIX Legions in Germania.

Penny Lumber used to get serviced by NYA at the Southold team track but there is no more NYA service east of Riverhead (LD block limit). That track is now just used as a runaround siding. Hope this helps.

LIRR 1966 map It's located west of Youngs Ave were the little rectangleis. Does anyone know what letter(s) in the small rectangle? Thanks.

Could it be the marking for the station? That is where the current platform is today. I have photos from around 2004-06 that I will find and post in Southold.

The LIRR 1966 map has the former passing siding stubbed out and turned into the team track with a siding added north of it, has been rearranged with that north siding marked "3" connecting in snake-like fashion back into the main as a passing siding once again in this 1981 photo
