RTM (former AMT) to abandon electric operation

Postby dowlingm » Thu Mar 15, 2018 2:37 pm

There had been talk of RTM pushing to electrify the rest of their network with REM grabbing their 25kV trackage. Well, that's over:

MR-90s to be maintained until early 2020s then done
    Dual modes to be disposed
"Clean diesel" locomotives to be acquired

Given RTM will lose a huge portion of their Gare Centrale operation, they will likely not require a large % of their BBD multilevels (and have 24 CRRC ones inbound anyway).

So basically if NJT honchos woke up this morning feeling like good news might be coming their way...

Can they get out of the CRRC deal? There might be some financial penalties, but a surplus of cars isn't good either.
As far as NJT goes, those ALPs would be a good option for replacing some of their older locos.
