Here are some pics from yesterday, taken up at Chester. It was an ALL UP day while I was there (about an hour and half), but still a good day anyways.

Hate to think how high the water was to those tracks back in '93... i'm sure you've heard of the Flood of 1993 before.

Some pics from my last time at Gorham. Besides UP, saw a BNSF train and a NS train with a SD60 running long hood forward!

I had the fortune to see one of the Olympic units up in Seattle on one of my student conductor trips, rolled right by me in front of the crew room. I wish I'd had a camera.

Looks like those former MoPac SD40-2's are still earning their keep. Back in the day (late 70's early 80's) they probably shuttled trains back and forth over on the Chester Sub here.

I did like seeing those S. IL shots. I decided to move north and west of there for these shots.

While up in Wisconsin during a snowstorm, got this coming off the WC:

The Wimmer Special coming through town and wasting no time about it:

Pulling off the Wabash onto the IHB in suburban Chicago Ridge is this stacker:

Arriving in Mason City is one of the many Operation Lifesaver trains run on UP's Spine Line through Iowa over the years:

Waiting their turn for service at Yard Center, two SD40-2's in 1985:

Brand new on CPRS train #500, my how time has changed these models:

Passing through one of the many cuts in central Iowa, this stacker is making good time:

Just delivered from NRE in Dixmoor, IL, waits a yard assignment in Dolton, IL:

Two items that no longer exist today:

On the ethanol local passing Hanlontown, IA:

One of my favorite yard goats, now leads a disgraced life converted to an RCO slug:

Again along the old CNW, but not on the CNW is this hopper train detouring on IC due to the cement tie project:

Hope you enjoyed this tour of the Mid-West.
