MAWA had 2 53' wells on the tail today, each with a CMA CMG box.

Maybe these two containers are inbound from the CMA CGM hub at Kingston, Jamaica?

They're westbound on POED this afternoon.

Does anyone know the story behind this? Is it some sort of intermodal experiment or has PAR lured in a new customer?

Trials, like they do every so often for potential, large, customers. If they can meet their promised transit times we may see a lot more, if not we likely won't see anymore.

Hahahardly. They were making times with WAAY/AYEA, but when they started dumping them on manifest jobs the times went to hell.

If waters are put on POSE at Rigby, that would reduce both the moves and transit time for POSE at the Hill Yard chokepoint. Waters -- perhaps not exclusively -- get put on POED, requiring a setoff -- sometimes in the yard, sometimes on the Camp, sometimes too late for a POSE that may have leapfrogged that POED. Mebbe Rigby has its own problems, but shoveling the solution west to Ayer seems an incomplete solution.

Looks like it. CMA CGM just started calling at St. John this week.

Unreal. Running through already. Nice full length line haul.

Here's the press release ... interesting statements about refrigerated capacity.

CMA-CGM is not only one of the world’s leading container lines but also has developed innovative technology which places them as a leader in the movement of refrigerated goods by container. The Port Saint John weekly call on CMA-CGM’s Cagema service will begin the week of August 21st and will offer transhipment to the world via their hub in Kingston, Jamaica.

What is unreal about moving a couple cars? That is what railroads do. It's going to take years, and track improvements to get the Keag traffic back where it was.

I didn't think they would have traffic already from the new steamship line in Saint John.

Could it be possible that this container may have originated out of the port of Halifax via CN to Saint John for a test run to points south?

Port of Halifax, NS.

Maybe the folks in Billerica are kicking themselves for their decision to withdraw from TIGER.

If there really are solid intermodal prospects (however limited in volume) from the maritime provinces, as well as Poland Spring, then a multimillion dollar mainline makeover between 'Keag and Waterville will be vital for the company as a whole.

It's just a test run guys, calm down. It may amount to something or it may not.
