What's the current SMS roster, and the status of each unit? Thanks.

It can vary, but the following were used reguraly back in October:
102, 200, 300, 301, 308, PRR 9069. 554 needed work, 6712 (335, third Baldwin built!) is operational, but not used, 304 was in the shop being restored to operational, 306 supposedly needed minor work to become operational. Nothing new is expected to arrive.

It's been six months. Any news?

The yardlimit site seems to be rarely updated, which seems typical of any information pertaining to this railroad. The presence of EMDs makes me worried.
Fan of late and early Conrail... also transition-era PRR, 70s Santa Fe, BN and SP, 70s-80s eastern CN, pre-merger-era UP, heavy electric operations in general, dieselized narrow gauge, transition-era DB and DR, modern EFVM and Brazilian railroads in general... why bother trying to list them all?

Not to worry! From July 3rd:

and

Mainly working on getting running what they have that is in the best shape. (309, 306) and 304 & PRR 9069 were running earlier in the week. The EMDs go to the NY operations, and the Baldwins stay close to the shops!

SMS has been featured in Railpace recently.

And...

I think the new issue of Trains has a small article on SMS.

Yes, the August 2011 issue of Trains magazine has an article on SMS and its Baldwins.
