Baldwin builders plate for Western Maryland

Postby blicquer » Thu Jul 31, 2008 8:53 pm

Hi, wonder if anyone knows if builder's plates for Western Maryland Potomac class 4-8-4 s of 1947 have been replicated. There's one for sale locally, but although it looks really nice, the back doesn't look as if it had ever been on a locomotive. It's cast bronze or brass and very heavy. It's the flat five sided style.

Here are pics of the plate. The DYMO label reads "Presented by Stanley Hope" who was president of ESSO oil in the 1950s. This came from the estate of an oil executive.

Norman,

I realize your post is 3 years old, but I just came across it while surfing the web for something else. By chance, did you end up buying this plate? I've been looking for one of these. If you did pick it up and would be willing to part with it, let me know.
