BNSF - Safety Last

Postby Ocala Mike » Thu Jul 10, 2014 2:51 pm

Probably old news, and maybe a thread elsewhere on here about this, but I just heard this story on NPR today:

http://nwpr.org/post/workers-question-s ... -crude-oil

Seems like the Oracle of Omaha's railroad pays lip service to safety rules, and treats whistleblowers mercilessly.

Disclaimer: I used to hold a long position in another Class I railroad, but I liquidated when I found out about its dismal safety record.

I've heard bits and pieces of Rookairds story before to know there's 2 sides to it and I'd like to hear the other side. A man let's his house go into foreclosure cause oil field money ain't good enough,I don't think so, not me at least. And another thing he was there 6 years and they put his butt in the street without a suspension first and the UTU ain't raising hell, that just don't pass the smell test. You can bet your a** there's more to it than what's being said. I'm no where close to shedding tears for Rookaird till I know the whole story.

Doesn't pass the sniff test of any rail disciplinary action I have ever heard of in a 49 year operating department career on both the labor and management sides.
