SELECTED ON-TIME PERFORMANCE 10/4 THROUGH11/3

Results for this period are:

TOTAL TRAINS = 1199

ON TIME = 473 (39%)

LATE = 725 (61%)

AVERAGE DELAY = 53"

Of the late trains:
47% were 29" or less late;
22% were 30" to 59" late;
20% were 1' to 2' late;
11% were more than 2' late; and
<1% had no arrival time shown.

BY ROUTE, WITH ON-TIM % AND AVERAGE DELAY:

CAPITOL LIMITED
#29 - 3% - 2' 06"
#30 - 3% - 1' 28"

CARDINAL (WAS)
#51 - 62% - 50"
#50 - 31% - 1' 43"

PENNSYLVANIAN
#43 - 27% - 41"
#42 - 33% - 19"

LAKE SHORE LIMITED
#49 - 7% - 1' 35"
#48 - 34% - 50"

LAKE SHORE LIMITED (BOSTON / ALBANY)
#449 - 40% - 21"
#448 - 3% - 57"

CITY OF NEW ORLEANS
#59 - 90% - 52"
#58 - 70% - 1' 30"

CRESCENT (WAS)
#19 - 3% - 1' 47"
#20 - 24% - 1' 19"

DETROIT CORRIDOR
(W) - 32% - 27"
(E) - 40% - 34"

ST. LOUIS CORRIDOR
(W) - 41% - 35"
(E) - 48% - 1' 18"

BUFFALO CORRIDOR
(W) - 28% - 31"
(E) - 48% - 36"

KANSAS CITY CORRIDOR
(W) - 75% - 24"
(E) - 60% - 35"

Less than a full complement of trains was reviewed in this period due primarily to programmed trackwork on the STL Corridor.

Services which showed improvement in both measured categories include:
westbound Boston section of the Lake Shore Limited and the BUF and KCY Corridors;
northbound Crescent;
eastbound Lake Shore Limited; and
both directions of the Pennsylvanian.

Of the 78 trains which were more than 2' late: the Capitol Limited accounted for 30;
the eastbound Texas Eagle (on the STL Corridor) for 16;
the Crescent for 15; and
the Lake Shore Limited for 12.

Similarly, of the total delay minutes in this period:
the STL Corridor accounted for 23%;
the Capitol Limited for 16%;
the Lake Shore Limited for 14%; and
the Crescent for 13%.

Correction of the avoidable delays on these 4 services would greatly help the overall performance of the entire review,
but there does not appear to be any evidence of such an effort.

In answer to a question about timekeeping on NS between CLE and CHI on the Lake Shore and Capitol Limiteds:

In the 30-date period, between 25 and 29 trips EB and WB for each service were delayed on NS.
