Rail layout on the NEC

Postby STrRedWolf » Fri Aug 24, 2018 8:19 pm

So I was looking southbound on Track 1 of the NEC at Odenton MARC... and noticed that there's a new track just south of the platform, with a switch right there.

Here's the area: http://wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=39.08 ... 4&z=18&m=b

It looks like they extended the mainenance of way yard's entrance to right at Odenton! Photos in a bit.

(A bit of due-dilligence here... I couldn't find a "changes on the NEC rail" thread. )

MW forces moved the switch off the curve to the straight section.
His train? It's MY train! I know what I'm doing, do you?

Oh nice. Although, this looks to be right where a fourth track could be used in the future (after they put in 4 tracks WINNANS to GROVE and rebuild BWI). Any word on the speed rating on it?

The fourth track (Track "A") would begin at "Grove" interlocking which is about 1 mile north of Odenton.

I'm familiar with the expansion effort between WINNANS and GROVE. I'm wondering about the future and if this track on the MoW yard would be incorporated in that should it go from GROVE to BOWIE.
