SELECTED ON-TIME PERFORMANCE 11/8/17 THROUGH 12/7/17

Postby shlustig » Sun Dec 10, 2017 10:15 am

Results for this period are:

TOTAL TRAINS = 1226

ON TIME = 484 (39%

LATE = 742 (61%)

AVERAGE DELAY = 52"

Of the late trains:
48% were 29" or less late;
19% were 30" to 59" late;
21% were 1' to 2' late;
11% were more than 2' late; and
1% had no arrival time shown.

BY ROUTE, WITH ON-TIME % AND AVERAGE DELAY:

CAPITOL LIMITED
#29 - 20% - 1' 17"
#30 - 33% - 58"

CARDINAL (WAS)
#51 - 54% - 1' 10"
#50 - 31% - 1' 08"

PENNSYLVANIAN
#43 - 83% - 42"
#42 - 33% - 16"

LAKE SHORE LIMITED
#49 - 13% - 1' 55"
#48 - 43% - 1' 36"

LAKE SHORE LIMITED (BOSTON / ALBANY)
#449 - 27% - 18"
#448 - 7% - 1' 47"

CITY OF NEW ORLEANS
#59 - 50% - 52"
#58 - 27% - 59"

CRESCENT (WAS)
#19 - 0% - 1' 51"
#20 - 13% - 1' 28"

DETROIT CORRIDOR
(W) - 53% - 18"
(E) - 63% - 22"

ST. LOUIS CORRIDOR
(W) - 44% - 42"
(E) - 47% - 48"

BUFFALO CORRIDOR
(W) - 3% - 48"
(E) - 43% - 43"

KANSAS CITY CORRIDOR
(W) - 65% - 26"
(E) - 53% - 25"

Unlike the preceding 10 periods, a full complement of trains was reviewed in this period.

Services which showed improvement in both measured categories include the westbound Boston section of the Lake Shore Limited and westbound KCY Corridor; eastbound Capitol Limited and Pennsylvanian; northbound City of New Orleans and Crescent; and both directions of the Cardinal.

Services which deteriorated in both categories include the westbound Capitol Limited and Lake Shore Limited.

Worst performing services continued to be the Lake Shore Limited, southbound Crescent, westbound Texas Eagle on the STL Corridor, and the westbound BUF Corridor. Combined, these services accounted for 48% of the total delay minutes in this period and for 48 of the 80 trains that were more than 2' late.

There still seems to be no effort by senior management to take corrective action on the obvious chronic problem services.

Received an off-line query about the performance of #49 westbound Lake Shore Limited on the BUF Corridor and about the Texas Eagle on the STL Corridor:

A. #49 has now had 327 consecutive late arrivals at BUFF; and

B. In the last 100 trips, #21 westbound Eagle has had 5 OT's at STL (284 miles) while #22 eastbound had 14 OT's at CHI (1305 miles from SAS).

Most of the route between Chicago and St. Louis (Alton to Joliet at least) has brand new tracks and the trains still run late. Maybe we have spent all that money on the wrong sections of tracks, maybe we should have spent that money on flyovers over busy diamond crossings nearer Chicago and East St. Louis?

For most of that period, wasn't it making 3 stops in Rochester? The platform was reduced to a pinpoint during new-station construction.
