Tomorrow is the 24th anniversary of the Bayou Canot wreck of the eastbound Sunset Limited.

47 fatalities and 103 injuries.

Wreck was caused by a towboat / barges rig that got lost in heavy fog, departed the Mobile River channel, and struck the bridge pier. Bridge span was shifted but the welded rail remaioned intact thereby allowing #2 to receive a "Clear" signal.
