Finally some good news; Conductor Case has been discharged:

Fair Use:

The Amtrak conductor critically injured after being shot by a passenger May 16 at the Naperville train station has been released from Edward Hospital in Naperville.

Michael Case, 46, of Homewood, was shot in the abdomen while standing on the platform of the Fourth Avenue Metra station and had been hospitalized until Friday, according to Facebook messages posted by both he and his wife, Sara

Meantime, I contunue to help pay for Mr. Klein's room and board:

Fair Use:

The man accused of shooting an Amtrak conductor in Naperville last month has had a psychological examination and is likely to be determined mentally unfit for trial, his attorney said at a court hearing Wednesday.

Edward J. Klein, 79, appeared in DuPage County court for the first time since a late May appearance during which his public defender raised doubts about Klein's sanity and asked for an examination, which was ordered by the court

Deemed unfit:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/n ... story.html

Fair Use:

A court-appointed psychologist thinks that the elderly Wisconsin man charged in the shooting of an Amtrak conductor in Naperville is not mentally fit to stand trial, it was revealed at a court hearing Monday.

Although the psychological report on Edward Klein is private, its general findings were discussed during a status hearing in DuPage County court.

It appears Mr. Klein's care and feeding will continue at my expense, and, as noted earlier by Mr. Ryanch, that his living arrangements will be "a mite bit less independent" than he would apparently otherwise desire.

Declared by the Judiciary; Unfit:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/n ... story.html

Fair Use:

..The judge set a Dec. 18 hearing date for Klein. At that proceeding prosecutors will present evidence against Klein probably via a mix of testimony and stipulations, and then Guerin will decide from a range of options that could include involuntary commitment in a state mental hospital

I've actually met him earlier this year, before the shooting. I was on one of his KC-CHI runs of 3/4.
