My girlfriend was on 303 from Chicago to St. Louis. We maintain cell phone communication form the whole trip. First the engine broke down about 20 minutes from Chicago to just west of some of Illinois. The problem was with the air compressor in the engine. I replacement engine was provided by CN. At this point the train was already two or three hours late. Then the CN unit started having wheel slip indications when the train exceeded 25mph. Eventually 303 stopped At Odell siding. Threel three 303 sat there until the Texas eagle caught up to it. The two train were combined and then continued on toward St. Louis. Additional delays occurred at Bloomington or sandwiches from A submarine sandwich store. Both trains experience more delay because they were out of their slot and had to take the siding for freight trains. The Lincoln service train arrives St. Louis seven hours and 30 minutes late and the Texas eagle was about three hours late .

And shifting to a different area, does anybody know what happened to #48 (12th) eastbound Lake Shore Limited; train shows nothing after Utica and no arrival in NYP; B&A section #448 (13th) shows 7'00"+ late Dpg. ALB and 8'34" late Arv. BOS.

No other BUF Corridor trains show extensive delay between UCA and ALB.

Believe Chicago and parts of western NY and PA got buried in snowfall.
As did a good chunk of central Mi.

Speed restriction on the NEC at Odenton going southbound today. Saw the Rule 296 signs up on the middle track. Photos when I can upload them.
I ride the (MTA Maryland) Penn Line (between Odenton and Baltimore). I used to work for MTA Maryland's IT department, and out of professional courtesy my responses may be limited. Wikimapia is wonderful (for track/interlocking locations)!

Gotta wonder what happened to #5 (29). It passed by here an hour late, but with P-42 #1 on the lead. #3 (29) was chasing his markers, so kind of a bonus on.my walk today.

Be interesting to see how much of that time, if any, is tecovered.

Word on the WBBM stream that Snow is about to happen in Chicago,It's going to be pain to be switching with snow falling.
There will be "Lake effect" snow in northern IN and western Mi to boot.

WBAL-TV reporting "fresh powder" falling on the western side of the Appalachian Mountains. May cause problems on the Capitol Limited.

And out west: http://www.kfyrtv.com/content/news/BNSF ... 32765.html

MINOT, N.D. - A BNSF freight train’s first two engines have derailed just west of Minot.

An Amtrak train that was scheduled to depart to Seattle more than nine and a half hours ago has been sitting at the Minot station due to the derailment.

The rail is currently being fixed now and the Amtrak should depart this evening at 6: 30 p.m. but will be heading to Spokane, Wash., instead.
