Was just informed (by Robo-call) that Southbound Auto Train, January 11 (which I was scheduled on) is cancelled due to service disruption.

Anyone know what the disruption is?

Weather along the East Coast did make a mess of the Carolinas this past weekend,Ice,Snow tend to break trees and powerlines.
CSX hosts the Auto Train, has signal and power problems, may have not allowed Amtrak to run thru the affected areas.

Every so often when Auto Train gets hours behind schedule Amtrak will annul both trains on one day so that the next day's departure can be time. Keep in mind that there are only two sets of A-T equipment, so if one set gets severely delayed it may take several trips where time is made up and equipment at destination is serviced/turned in less than allotted time in order to return to an on time departure.
I know that on the 7th there were frozen switches between Petersburg and Rocky Mount that delayed SILVER METEOR #97 over four hours. This could have been one of the reasons why the Auto Trains that left on the 7th were about 7 hours late arriving at their destinations. There were more weather-related delays on the 8th that pushed the already late trains further behind.

NEC service was suspended today in New Jersey from aprox 5pm to 9pm while high winds, rain, and just terrible conditions caused power lines to drop onto the track. Trains are running back on that line now. Some trains were cancelled (including some Accela trains), and NJ Transit's having a time dealing with it.
I ride the (MTA Maryland) Penn Line (between Odenton and Baltimore). I used to work for MTA Maryland's IT department, and out of professional courtesy my responses may be limited. Wikimapia is wonderful (for track/interlocking locations)!

Does anybody know what happened to Wolverines #350 (23rd) & 355 (23rd); #350 shows no times east of JXN, and #355 shows no times from PNT to CHI.

On the Chesterton radio stream, I heard the Chicago West DS say that #352 had struck a semi at Clark Road and that he had called M/W for help. Not sure if this blocked the line for #353.

Thanks, twropr:
They are scheduled about 1' 45" apart in that area, so the grade-xg collision by #352 probably nailed #353 for that delay. NS might have held #353 on the Amtrak line at Porter until things were fluid again.

Northeast Corridor overnight train 66 is listed this morning as "service disruption". WGBH radio news in Boston reports that it was stuck for five hours in the Bronx without HEP on a very cold night, and started moving again around 8 AM. The report did not specify whether this was a catenary problem or a locomotive problem.
