If you look at http://www.nkp190.com/ its been painted since 2006 but no updates after 2008.
Now it seems both Doyle and Smitsonian have ditched their other cosmetic restore to a texas museum ??

If Conductors are in charge, why are they promoted to be Engineer???

There is now a 2010 gallery of pictures on line, it shows some of progress.

Anybody have news on how the 190 is coming along? I checked the website and found the 2010 pictures but nothing recent. I have been following this project with great interest (talk about the impossible relative to preservation) and hope to someday witness this unit rumbling along at speed.

I was partially raised by a pack (some wild) of railroaders.

Well, there's only about 6 months before ORHF has to move, so I guess that 190 is on the back burner.

My opinion that those Alco PAs are still owned by the tax payers of New York State and should be returned accordingly.

It's being reported that Doyle McCormack's PA, KNP 190, is going to be present at the Streamliners in Spencer event. Train magazine is calling it "cherry on the top" for the event.

That reminds me - I saw the other PA in Frisco just recently. It is in TOUGH shape, and will take a lot to cosmetically restore it. (The head of the Museum of the American Railroad mentioned that due to a rollover accident, only one frame member remains undeformed... and it looks that way.) Not to mention, the entire locomotive is gutted - no gauges, no prime mover, no generator, little to no wiring, no glass - though weirdly, the passenger steam boilers are still in place. The museum does intend to restore and display it, but don't expect it to be on the rails under its own power anytime soon.
