This came as a surprise to me, but White Pass and Yukon has 3 of their RSD-35's for sale.

YES! They would have been better off keeping them and rebuilding them with new ALCO engines. No one in their right mind will pay that price. Even diehard ALCO users!

Thank you! I was hoping that was just a major typo, but I guess it's not. Very bizarre. You could buy brand new locomotives for that price. Why are they asking such an outrageously high price? Are these units gold leafed or something?

Check out Ozark as they have 2 RS-18's and 2 M420's for sale.

All over priced.

I am guessing that all 4 are from the Mississippi Railroad. I am going look into this further.

^Thanks, guys!

If the Lake State Alcos couldn't sell priced at $75k-$90k each, these will not sell.

Just in case anyone has trouble navigating the Ozark site, here are individual links to the four locomotives:

RS18U #1865: http://www.ozarkmountainrailcar.com/det ... U-1865-NEW
$130K (this seems, on paper at least, like it's the best of the four)

RS18U #1828: http://www.ozarkmountainrailcar.com/det ... U-1828-NEW
$130K

M420W #3536: http://www.ozarkmountainrailcar.com/det ... 0-3536-NEW
$165K

M420W #3518: http://www.ozarkmountainrailcar.com/det ... 0-3518-NEW
$165K

For what it's worth, I suspect the prices are probably negotiable, especially if someone wanted all four units. The biggest problem isn't so much the price; it's that Alcos just aren't hot sellers these days. The few Alco-friendly railroads still operating in the U.S. probably don't have enough traffic to warrant additional power. These units might be ideal for a new shortline, but let's face it, they'd be taking a calculated risk by going Alco instead of taking the easy route and just getting GP-whatevers.

Keep in mind however that these 4 locomotives being sold above are in much better shape than the Lake State ALCO's. The 4 C425m's needs major overhauls whereas these are ready to run.
