Hello,
Today's SLQ westbound 393 departed Island Pond at 0900 on the dot with the following:

GP40-2 3008
GP40-2 3035
GP40-2 3047
GP40-3 3804
RM-1 804
8 centerbeam flats
10 salt hoppers
27 propane cars
3 tank cars
6 hi-cube boxcars

That's 54 cars total, including 18 loads and 36 empties.

By the way, the 3804 and 804 were not online. Maybe they are being forwarded to Richmond for the locals based there? Or extra HP is needed for Thursday night's train?
Have a great day,
Fritz

Caught 394 this morning, made it to Lewiston Junction by approximately 5:15am. No car count or locomotive numbers, but saw several covered hoppers, a center beam with lumber, and the rest were tank cars. About 30 cars total, if I had to guess, and that may be low.

It's great that SLR is still able to run a daily train but disturbing how light it is running. Hopefully the 286K upgrade will help.

I shudder to think what these trains are going to look like in the summer when the propane traffic tails off.

Hello,
The girls and I went to Island Pond this morning "to run errands" and so we caught today's SLQ westbound 393 departing at 0847 with the following:

RM-1 805
GP40-3 3803
GP40-2 3007
3 centerbeam flats
1 PTTX flat
2 LTTX flats
2 SOO flats
5 hi-cube boxcars
2 boxcars
7 tank cars
25 propane cars
2 NaClO3 hoppers
1 MWCX hi-sided gondola

That's 50 cars total, including 6 loads and 44 empties.

Of interest were the two long LTTX flats fitted with brackets for long utility poles separated by two SOO idler flats, as shown in these photos from rrpicturearchives:

http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=4854407

http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=4420966

There's been a lot of interesting flats moving on the SLR lately, including a mix of both utility pole and steel plate loads.
Have a great weekend,
Fritz

Hello,
Happy New Year! SLR started 2018 off with quite the train, as the SLQ westbound 393 departed Island Pond at 0838 with the following:

GP40 3004
GP40-2 3035
GP40-2 3047
GP40-3 3803
3 centerbeam flats
10 tank cars
35 propane cars
5 NaClO3 hoppers
1 covered hopper
6 boxcars
22 hi-cube boxcars

That's 82 cars total, including 26 loads and 56 empties. Lots of propane empties after that cold weather (and more to come!) but also lots of paper (perhaps backlogged over the holidays).
Keep warm out there,
Fritz
