Sayre PA - Inspection out by fueling area?

Postby nydepot » Sun Jun 28, 2015 6:16 pm

All those photos of the LV fueling/sanding area taken from the footbridge, I can't tell if there was an inspection pit under one of the tracks.

Was there or did they have to head somewhere else if a check was needed?

I know many railroads had them
In fueling areas but not every.
Thanks

Yes, there was an inspection pit at the Sayre engine terminal:

it was difficult to spot, because 99% of the time there were locomotives over it! ;)
(especially in the LV days)
but by the early 80's it appeared out in the open occasionally..
it was probably filled in when they took out the whole engine terminal about 1987.
