P&W in its website adverstises a intermodal yard at the Port but is it actualy used?

Not for a number of years, I believe, if ever. Port of Providence doesn't lend itself to incoming containers - too small and too much competition from other ports (NY and Boston). Being as Worcester is P&W's major incoming intermodal hub, what comes there destined for RI is best trucked down Rt. 146. IMHO.

In its early days in the 1970s, the P&W did regularly handle piggyback traffic on trains PRWO and WOPR.
