Port of New Haven Coal Trains

Postby Pwrrfan » Thu Feb 12, 2015 8:32 pm

So I read in a book I have on the P&W that between 2000 and 2002, the P&W ran coal trains from the Port of New Haven. In 2003 the coal was re-routed to Providence and has been going out of there since. Does anyone remember P&W coal trains running out of the Port of New Haven?

I do remember reading about it in Railpace magazine. At the time the Providence Journal was running articles claiming that the port of Providence had major infrastructure problems, especially with some of the Quayside unloading areas....that may be why P&W looked to Ct. initially..
