Groton CT spur

Postby georgewerr » Wed Nov 29, 2017 6:22 pm

I see they are replacing tie's on a spur in Groton, I thought there was no more customers on this spur and thought it strange they would spend any dollars or effort in keeping this spur up. This spur ends at Electric Boat Shipyard.

Electric Boat is a defense contractor, believe that spur is the only access point to bring in Oversized loads for various DOD projects
built there for the US Navy.

There was also a contractor working on the Shennecossett Road overpass last week on Tuesday.

EB has a new $5bn contract for 12 new submarines, which is a really big increase in work there. So it's no accident that they're prepping for more movements on the old main line.
