Southern Railway: When did pax service to Landrum, SC stop?

Postby runningwithscalpels » Fri Aug 01, 2014 5:06 pm

I also posted this on the generic fallen flag board, but maybe someone here knows:

Does anyone know the specific date that SOU terminated passenger service to Landrum, SC? Also, does anyone know the specific date when ownership of the depot changed hands from the railroad to the city? (Anything more helpful than "sometime in the 1970's" would be better than nothing, even a specific year...)

Landrum, SC was served by the Carolina Special, which ran for the last time on 12/5/68, so that is my final answer. Don't know about the station building.
