NKP diesel survivors

Discussion related to the Norfolk & Western, up to 1982. Also includes discussion of the Virginian Railway (1959); Wabash; Nickel Plate; Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railway; Akron, Canton & Youngstown Raiload (all 1964); and the Illinois Terminal (1981).

NKP diesel survivors

I've been slowly re-reading all of my NKP books (Rehor, Morning Sun, TLC, etc.) and got to wondering if anyone has put together a list of NKP diesel survivors? I am aware of the Winchester units, the NW-2 for sale in FL an Alco switcher in NY, and a few others, but there must be more NKP units around.

Just a handful; a couple SD9s, at least one each GP7 (Indiana, ITM) and GP9 (Virginia), Gulford may have the lone GP35 yet but it looked like it would get cut up; at least one RS36 (LA&L); ITM also has a 44-tonner painted NKP and a Baldwin but not sure the latter is an original; I believe at least one GP30 is out there as well. Beyond that, not sure.

Don't forget there's Doyle's collection of NKP-painted Alcos in PDX - namely the PA and RSD5.

At least a couple more have been cut up, Georgia Northeastern 8704 there's a bunch of shots of it a hulk with no prime mover, then you see the cab and short hood on a flatcar.

And they missed one, NKP GP18 700 existed through at least 2011 as Kanawha River Terminal 1284, again the most recent shots show a derelict with missing parts, though not as extreme as the 8704.

703 may still exist as RSSX 1493, with a crude nose chop. 705 became USMX 1495 (possibly related) but no data after 1991. So it's likely there are others just not known.

The Doyle McCormick units are not original NKP units.
