Tragedy in French Alps 100 years ago, 12.12.1917

During the Great War, many French soldiers were given furlough before Noel 1917. Seven hundred were killed when an engineer was overruled on taking a train through the Alps with insufficient braking power. He was overruled at gunpoint.
