Argentina Railways - Passenger Travel

Postby Tadman » Sat May 06, 2017 11:50 am

Anybody travel by train in Argentina? I'm thinking of traveling by sleeper car BA to Tucuman, Bahia Blanca, or Cordoba. Thoughts on best destinations or scenery, services to avoid or seek out?

There are a group of Budd 1948 built C&O Chessie streamliner cars in Argentina, that were in regular revenue service until 2015 or maybe 2016. However, I think the train/route where they operated is currently suspended.

Seat61 is a good source of information on the more exotic train travel possibilities.

There appears to be something of a revival in Argentina after the privatization fiasco of the 1990's.

Schedules for trains in Argentina can be found here -

I use Google Chrome which has a "Translate to English" selection when you right click on the page once it finishes loading.
