What was their setup for HEP vs generators? Would they be plug compatible with Amtrak?
And what kind of speed are they rated for?

Those are some seriously comfy cars, particularly the center vestibule/ full width rooms.

An article I went back and re-read recently from an older Trains magazine on the Ringling Bros. Circus Train
said the cars have to be "Amtrak compatible" (or similar phrasing). From that, I would assume they would be
able to be run at 79 per hour with any Amtrak train.

I read that to mean they were qualified for interchange on the Corridor.

Is there a difference between "Amtrak compatible" and "Amtrak certified"?

With many of these cars, the next PC-2 happens in 13 years or so. Just saying...
