EMD8165,

Yes. You have to have a certain number of posts before the software will let you PM.

Thanks John. I suspected as much.

For those who didn't notice: a second caboose has arrived. Several more are expected in them coming weeks, weather permitting. Brush cutting and track work will continue through the winter as will mechanical repairs. 54 is getting a lot of love.

*in the coming weeks*.. That's what I get for NOT checking my post before hitting Submit.

A third caboose has now arrived and at least one is getting decorated for the holidays.

If you come to Honesdale to see them be sure to do some holiday shopping or have a meal while you're there. The businesses will be glad to see you.

EMD,

Where are the cabooses coming from? All by truck?

Were they purchased just for the new operator? Or are they being borrowed?

Thanks for the updates. That is a pretty line and I wish them all the best with this latest incarnation.

So far, they have been trucked in from western PA. More equipment is coming by rail but that's waiting for some maintanence work to be completed. Some of it is borrowed, leased, rented, bought.. anything to get the railroad back running and bring the tourists back to the area. These last few years have been tough without the trains running. Now it's time to get back to business.

Honesdale-Hawley is a nice, though short, ride. Hopefully they can reestablish the excursions to Lackawaxen soon. Love the passage through those narrow rock cuts. The German style meal at Lackawaxen was tasty too.

Lots of work continues at the DL&S in preparation for the Grand Opening on May 9th & 10th. The 54 is running nicely and the 2 CNJ coaches are undergoing some serious work and will soon be repainted. 1203 is in the shop and has already been stripped and patched, the 993 is next. Come out for the grand opening on May 9th & 10th to see them and take a ride.

A private caboose train was run on Monday from Honesdale to Lackawaxen and return. It was a leisurely ride with stops to flag most of the crossings since the automatic crossing protection is still off. It rained most of the day but several fans came out to watch and take pictures.

I just saw a video on Facebook of today's train.

#54, caboose, 2 coaches and another caboose. It looked sharp,

Congrats to the Stourbridge!
