Track issues in South Brooklyn

Postby jtunnel » Thu Jan 28, 2016 6:43 pm

Just before the Blizzard of 2016 it looks like the rail-head rolled over on the NY&A interchange track. Today was the first day crews could get into the area to remove some of the affected equipment and begin repairs. Some of the loaded cars are still partially on the ground.

I wonder if they'll have to shut down the N subway when they're re-railing? (since it comes out of the tunnel right next to those cars). I'm guessing it's no big deal with them being lumber cars...

Years ago LIRR dropped a tanker in Yard A and the powers that be suspended area subways, moves through harold, etc... at rush hour, of course.

No hazmats, so it makes life a bit easier for the railroad.

NY&A 270 and 271 pulled the last three center-beams back onto the tracks this afternoon. Photos later.
