I stopped by the shops today, and the yard was filled with most of the ex-Amtrak cars. All the baggage cars had signs on the doors saying "HOME SHOP FOR REPAIR DO NOT LOAD"

1801 (Phase III Vermonter) was in the process of being scrapped. Half of the car was still intact; the rest was nowhere to be seen.

1185 (Phase III) was next to the remains of 1801, and will be the next to go.

11002 (Phase IV) was towards the bottom of the hill, awaiting its turn to meet the torch.

There were four MHC's up on the hill behind 487 and 7205. I would think that these cars will be moved into the yard for scrapping once the baggages are gone.

Also, as of when I was there (4:30), there was no sign of the new unit, 4204. I guess it will be spending the weekend at Lake Junction.

Photos to come.

Usually Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, but they have been known to mix things up every once in a while.

Caboose 100 was resting solo on the Ridgedale runaround near a centerbeam flat.

R36,

Any reason for the centerbeam on the Whippany Line?? What customer on the Whippany gets centerbeams??

Thanks.

18 brought a centerbeam west through Dover this morning.

That would be the one. As of 4:30 this afternoon, the runaround was occupied by the caboose and a (regular) flatcar loaded with lumber, with no centerbeams in sight.

Well then the plot thickens as to where that car is destined!

Will there be any M&E freights tomorrow over the Morristown or Boonton Lines? Tomorrow's a holiday though, but just curious.
Attention Ho-Ho-Kus passengers, the next westbound train to Waldwick, stopping at Waldwick, is now arriving on Track 3. Please watch the gap when boarding the train.

Vermonter baggage car 1801 (ME 1800) will soon be a memory. AMTK 1185, now just a shell, will be cut next. 1002 remains intact on the lead.

Now take a look back at 1801 in some better times for a now and then: on the Hell Gate Bridge on 6/23/01.

1851, the Adirondack car, is still stored in Rockaway, and has been rejoined by the camo boxcar:

1851 has been there since 2007. Rockaway is apparently the home for 1775 in the "off-season" (outside the holidays).

I knew that, I was just pointing out the fact that 1851 is safe, at least for now...

Getting back on topic, does anyone know what days M&E heads east down NJT to pick up tankers for the Whippany Line??

It appears that Bio-fuel customer on the Jefferson team track is picking up of late.. Noticed 6 tank cars there earlier in the week.

#18 was working out in Rockaway today, towing a single covered hopper back. Here crossing Sussex Street. Video
