top railroad forums in the world with over 11,000 members and 900,000 posts.
Railroad.net also serves as an online railroad museum with historical photos and articles which can't be found anywhere else on the world. A portion of our archives were contributed by some of the people that actually helped to build some of the nation's railroads in the early 1900's. Railroad.net also serves as a leading source for real time news and commentary about what is happening right now in the railroad industry. Jeff Smith is a life-long rail fan originally from the New York City area whose first train ride was on the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad. His favorite rail memories include a trip to the 1964 World's Fair on the New Haven and the Flushing Line via Grand Central Terminal, trips to Katonah with his mother and father to see the Budd RDC's on the Upper Harlem line of the New York Central or to Grand Central to eat at the "automat". He has been a member of railroad.net since 2006 and a moderator of the Amtrak forum and site administrator since 2010. Jeff publishes upcoming railroad events along with commentary on important railroad issues to the Railroad.net news section. Jeff also serves as the Railroad.net editor and he seeks out and screens potential contributors from the Railroad.net forum. Christopher Mahoney
Christopher Mahoney is a recent graduate from UCLA with a degree in Sociology. Christopher has written for several internet websites where he has applied his superior writing skills with his education and interest in social activity. Gary has fond memories of taking train trips as a kid, and to this day it is far and away his favorite way to travel. Living in New York, and frequently traveling to Boston, Gary talks with conductors and fellow commuters about his interest in railroads. Gary created a railroad poetry blog as a way to take advantage of his time on the Long Island Rail Road and writes from the inspiring place that railroads can be. Gary contributes posts to the passenger rail section of Railroad.net. He adds articles and stories surrounding how news, policies, events, changes, and innovation are affecting the everyday rail passenger. As a result of having a love for railroads, combined with a genuine interest in how they affect passengers in their everyday lives - Gary is able to offer a unique perspective and helpful information concerning railroad commuting." Greg Primrose is a Baltimore, Maryland native whose interest in trains grew in 2006 when he got a DSLR camera and began photographing trains. During that same time period, Greg became a frequent contributor and moderator to the Amtrak and High-Speed rail forums on Railroad.net. Today, Greg publishes news stories and opinions about Amtrak and High-speed rail while sourcing what the 10,000+ Railroad.net forum members are discussing within these key railroad topics. Greg also mixes in featured articles detailing some of his experiences and successes in railroad photography. Mark Egebrecht Mark Egebrecht's interests include diesel locomotives, railroad junctions and routes, Amtrak,Norfolk Southern, Conrail, CSX, and Metra. He has over 400 videos on Youtube that I have filmed over the years. Robert Sullivan Robert Sullivan adds articles and commentary from the perspective of a Railroad Manager. Robert retired after working 42 years, from Union Pacific, As Senior Manager Intermodal Terminal Operations Global III, Rochelle Illinois. He started with PRR as a clerk in 1966, started into management in 1972, with Penn Central subsequently Conrail, and left Conrail to work for Chicago & Northwestern. Tyler Trahan is a freelance writer and photographer from Worcester, Massachusetts. He fell in love with railroads at age 5 after inheriting his great-grandfather's HO scale models, and since then has been soaking up anything train-related in books, magazines, and the internet to put together a broad spectrum of railroad knowledge. He writes a blog about commuting by train and brings that experience and an interest in the human drama of railroading to the Railroad.net news team. .........
